The SSMIC works to create awareness and raise the profile of our IT community by providing a host of support services that are tailored to the needs of the small/medium sized enterprises (SME) in Sault Ste. Marie and Algoma Region including:

ITSSM.com is our partner website and provides information that will be useful for anyone with an Interest in the IT sector of Sault Ste. Marie region. Sault Ste. Marie offers a number of unique advantages to IT businesses and this site showcases our growing and vibrant IT community.
The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Center has developed this site with a number of goals in mind:
- Increase awareness of the talented IT organizations within our community
- Create new business and project opportunities’
- Provide information resources to local IT firms
While under development, itssm.com was given the internal name of “IT Come Home”. This served us through the creation of the site as we met with different stakeholders and planned the functionality. The focus was to help retain and bring IT revenue, jobs, projects and companies to the Sault Ste. Marie region.
The site provides a number of interesting features including a directory of the companies in our talented IT sector; an area for former Sault-area residents in the IT sector to register and information resources for local IT firms including bidding opportunities, a calendar of networking & training events, news, funding opportunities and much more.

NETWORKING EVENTS
Networking events, seminars and training workshops play an important role in establishing a vibrant IT community. The SSMIC will continue to coordinate the monthly Technology Advisory Group (TAG) meeting in conjunction with AdNet and the SSM Economic Development Corporation. Further, the SSMIC organized monthly technology breakfast series and ongoing training workshops on relevant IT and business topics. The content for these sessions is based on feedback and requests from the local IT community.
IT Breakfast:
Every month there is an opportunity for anyone involved in IT to attend a social breakfast event! The IT breakfast takes place at Grande Festa Restaurant at 7:30 a.m. It's a great opportunity to network with others and discuss what's new and exciting in IT.
TAG Luncheons:
Each month (excluding summer months) AD~Net, the Sault Ste. Marie Economic Development Corporation and the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre sponsor a luncheon. New topics and new speakers are brought in and lunch is provided by the sponsors. This event is an excellent opportunity to learn and network with people throughout the IT community.
Training Workshops:
Training workshops on relevant IT business topics. The content for these sessions is based on feedback and requests from the local IT community. To view upcoming and past workshop information, click here.
The SSMIC will continue to work closely with its community partners in the economic development and support for small business field. The SSMIC maintains a close working relationship with these organizations to avoid duplication of services and work on joint initiatives.
BIDDING (RFP Monitoring and Distribution)
The SSMIC currently monitors eight bidding sites on a daily basis and qualifies leads, which it then distributes to SME’s in the District. As part of this service, the SSMIC acts as a facilitator to bring together various companies to form consortiums that can bid on larger projects.
