Sault Ste. Marie Public Library East End Site Location Analysis (2014)

Client: Sault Ste. Marie Public Library

The Sault Ste. Marie Public Library was interested in finding suitable locations for a public library in the east end of the city.  A suitability model was developed by the CGC as the basis for analysis.  Criteria were selected by the CGC in consultation with library staff.  Criteria included: proximity to bus routes, proximity to bus stops, proximity to centre point of existing east end library patrons, socio-economic factors, city owned facilities, parcels zoned commercial/institutional, etc.  Criteria were weighted within the suitability model and a number of properties were deemed as suitable candidates for a public library.  Resulting properties were ranked by suitability score, compiled into a report and presented to library staff.  This information will be of great use to the library board in deciding a suitable location for the Churchill Branch Library (if it is deemed necessary to move this branch).
