Timiskaming Emergency Medical Services (2008)

District of Timiskaming Emergency Medical Services

Distribution and Response Time Analysis (2008)

The District of Timiskaming identified a need for GIS mapping of their EMS fleet Call Distribution and Average Response time.  The goals of this project were to aid in placement of new facilities and ambulance wait location to better service the community.  Analysis was conducted on a 1 km2 grid for the entire district based on priority codes 3 and 4 from the ARIS Dispatch Data Service  Database.  Analysis was also conducted based on shift times of 7am – 7pm, 7pm – 7am and 8am – 4pm to aid in making decisions about the number of EMS workers on a shift and the location the ambulance will wait for dispatch depending on the time of day and related call volume and response times for that time.
