As part of the Sault Ste. Marie Science Festival, the Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre (SSMIC) and YouLaunch, our Youth Entrepreneurship and Technology Skills Development division, hosted ARTIE (Advanced Research & Technology Innovation Expo) on Thursday, April 27, 2023.


ARTIE brought over 1100 elementary school students together for one day to gain hands-on experience from local exhibitors in the science and technology sector. 


The goal of the event is to inspire students to explore further education in STEM programming by providing an opportunity for students to learn from and engage with local community organizations and businesses that can showcase “cool science.”

'Stir the Potential': Conference aims to empower northern communities

The Sault Ste. Marie Innovation Centre will host a conference at the end of May that promises to give attendees a fresh perspective on how innovative thinking can help northern communities reach their potential. The two-day gathering will also welcome some well-known keynote speakers, including former NHL player, coach and recently published author Ted Nolan, and host of CBC’s Quirks and Quarks Bob McDonald, among others. The “Stir the Potential” conference takes place at the Delta Waterfront Hotel on May 27 and 28.
